When I was asked for an update about my goldies by fellow goldfish blogger Goldfishdoctor this morning, I realized it had indeed been quite a while since the last one (5 months to be exact!). A lot has changed since that time: they have been moved back inside and are no longer in the pond. Instead, they’re in a 55 gallon indoor ‘pond’, which is actually a fancy word for a horrendously ugly bright blue koi bowl with a pond filter running on it. It works, though, and I have the photos to prove it. They have grown so much!
Top: Leon (oranda) while being moved to the pond this spring.
Middle: Leon after having been in the pond for 2 months.
Bottom: Leon now!
His headgrowth has increased dramatically, as has his roundness!
Top: Antoine this March. So skinny!
Middle: Antoine right before going into the pond.
Bottom: Antoine now. I am so amazed at the progress this fish has made. He was always ridiculously skinny for some reason no matter what I tried, but he’s actually a bit rounder now.
Top: Sauron before going into the pond.
Middle: Sauron after two months in the pond.
Bottom: Sauron now. Sauron was already quite big when I got him because he was already an adult fish. He hasn’t grown as much as the others, but he has been steadily losing black coloration! I’m very curious to see what he’ll look like in 6 months or a year.
I hope you guys enjoyed the progress photos! I can’t believe it’s already been a year. There have been ups and downs fishkeeping-wise, with the goldfish doing wonderfully in the pond, the betta unfortunately passing away, and many visits to aquarium-related places and events.
Happy New Year!
